Now my iPhone has magically fixed itself. For anyone who just happens to get here from searching for b0rken iPhone problems, here’s the symptoms I had: Speakerphone worked. Adjusting volume in settings would play a volume-sound. Headphones worked. However, when trying to have a conversation by actually holding the phone up to my ear, there was no sound. When calling the phone, there was no ring. There were no “alert sounds” such as SMS notices. I didn’t have time to go to the Apple Store and bitch them out, so I reset the phone using iTunes — no love. Boo! I also noticed craptastical response from the home button — as in, it didn’t work all the time, and to change apps I was having to power the phone OFF to get back to the menu screen. I gave up. Bah! This went on for a few days. I was listening to podcasts and making calls from the headphones until I got around to giving up the phone for awhile — and then last night I heard a DING! from the other room. Indeed, the phone had healed itself, and I’m not sure why or what I did. I had sync’d the phone several times in the interim without remedy. I have to figure this is a problem where the phone still thinks the headphones are plugged in when they’re not. Some series of events I’m doing is causing this state where the phone is still trying to only send data through the headphones — even when they’re not plugged in.
