I guess it’s not Lent if I don’t feel a little pain.

Lent? Really? Yes, Lent. I still give up something every year for Lent. No, I’m not Catholic. Yes, I know many people find this weird. Yes, I’ve heard I should “give up giving up things for Lent for Lent.” Somehow after all these years, I was blindsided once again. Even though I briefly thought about it last week it snuck up on me. When I saw Mission hipsters sporting ash crosses on their foreheads yesterday — possibly ironically, who knows — I was pressed to make a quick decision.

So I gave up “shopping online” for Lent.  For these purposes, “shopping online” means logging onto a website in order to procure some sort of physical product.  Yep, that’s 40 days without getting a single smiley Amazon box. I was pretty much at peace with this until I remembered that iPad 2 ordering starts tomorrow. I was seriously considering getting one, but no way am I going to stand in line for it. I guess we’ll see if I still want one after Easter.
