And now, some knitting content.

I have finished my first sweater! Actually, I finished it last Saturday, sewing on the fabulous buttons (more on those in a bit) and spent the rest of the day feeling rather smug that I actually completed what Karrie calls a “large wearable object”. Pic:

Eww. There has got to be some dust on my camera lens. Gotta remember to clean that off. Anyway, it’s finished. Fiber: Jo Sharp Silkroad Ultra in Neptune. Pattern from “Hip to Knit”. And it’s perfect… except the sleeves are just a bit too long. Next time I wash it, I’m going to try to squish them a bit shorter.

And you can’t see it here, but the buttons are to die for. They’re abalone shell, and the color shifts in the light from black to grey to blue… just like the yarn does a bit (though it’s from black to blue to green — no grey). Anyway, here’s a close up.

I think they’re gorgeous. I’m super-tired from working on my Ribby Cardi, though. It’s not the ribbing that makes it so tiring for me — a good thing, since I decided to make the extra-ribby version — but those tiny tiny needles with such a repetitive pattern. I just finished the back tonight. Maybe when I get to the smaller pieces, it won’t be so tiring. Kind of a grey-green color — which oddly enough is almost exactly the same color as Leda’s eyes. Swatch:

The unblocked back:

It seems so… skinny right now. But I just keep remembering pictures demonstrating the magic of blocking — “Here’s an unblocked swatch, and now the SAME swatch blocked. See the difference?”

That’s about it for knitting content for the evening. Hope y’all enjoy your holidays!
