Unofficial David Bowie Day!

Email received from a coworker:

Today at work several folks of my age overheard a conversation between two of our youngest employees (it was confirmed later that they were born AFTER Star Wars was released: ’77).

The conversation went something like this:

Youthful employee 1: Have you ever heard of David Bowie?

Group of 30 somethings in unison: WHAT?!

[grooming myself for old age I had to ask the person next to me “what did she say?”]

30 something 1: Did you just ask if he had ever heard of David Bowie?

Youthful employee 2: Yeah. *laughs*

30 somethings: *jaws drop*

30 something 1: What did you say?

Youthful employee 2: No. *laughs*

30 somethings break rank in mixed wonder and horror, one falling, literally off her chair, all of us realizing we were just barely grasping onto our youth.

30 something 2: We just aged a decade…

So, today, I officially decree it the Unofficial David Bowie Day! Crank up your iTunes, set your company juke box, play David loud and proud!

A little later…

I suped-up iTunes with Changesbowie and had youthful employee 2 listen to a few tunes, which he did not recognize. Just now though he came over to say he recognized Changes, and upon reflection said it was because it was in a Microsoft commercial, which is also how he knows a few Hendrix toons.
