Little known fact about me.

When I was in high school — before I got involved in theater, so 9th-10th grade timeframe — I really really wanted to design fonts. I loved fonts. Loved them. I could sit and wade through a font book, picking precisely the right font. I fretted over the differences between Palatino and New Century Schoolbook. I loved the subtle ways that a typeface could change the feel of the text you have set. I considered what was the correct choice for that specific use — a biology paper, a short story written for English, a history essay… Each had a correct font for the project, and I sought it out.

Probably one of the artsiest things about me, that love of the typeface. So expressive, yet clear and communicative. If it’s done right, which it often is not.

Maybe I need a copy of Fontographer…
