Another year gone by. I think I officially jumped a demographic today, assuming there's a "35+" group. Doesn't really phase me - even with the "I'm old" banter between me and Kate of late. I've never been particularly worried about being old, or getting old, and even if I was there's no measure that says that 35 is old in this day and age. Hell, I got carded for booze at Trader Joe's a few weeks ago when my mother-in-law was visiting. That was kind of funny, since it had been so long since I was carded that I just couldn't figure out why the checker kept asking for my ID. "No, you don't need my ID. I'm using a debit card." Boy, did I feel like a dumbass when I finally worked out what was going on there. At least Shirley got a kick out of it.
It's been kind of a weird day for me, though. A contingent of the Mel-O-Dee knitters were over from brunch this morning, which was FAB. Unfortunately, I woke up quite discombobulated and off-balance for No Apparent Reason. I was fine when I went to bed, and still seriously overbalancing an hour after I woke up. Hard to chalk that up to general sleep-clumsiness, even for me. I seem to be improving, and I've decided it's probably some sort of inner-ear thing. Unfortunately, it did keep me more stationary and reserved when we had guests, and I didn't go with them for the Daiso run. That's okay, though. I had a pleasant afternoon on the couch with Tivo, and Stephen baked me an apple cake to celebrate my birthday. I'm terribly, terribly spoiled.

Because I tweeted about watching Barrett-Jackson over the weekend, I now have a few car people following me on Twitter. Boy, are they going to be disappointed.

How did I lose an hour when I set out to write a blog post? Oh, right. That chunk of Yelp reviews. Dueling navel gazing -- Yelp won this round.

Arrgh! Now my iPhone has magically fixed itself. For anyone who just happens to get here from searching for b0rken iPhone problems, here's the symptoms I had: Speakerphone worked. Adjusting volume in settings would play a volume-sound. Headphones worked. However, when trying to have a conversation by actually holding the phone up to my ear, there was no sound. When calling the phone, there was no ring. There were no "alert sounds" such as SMS notices. I didn't have time to go to the Apple Store and bitch them out, so I reset the phone using iTunes -- no love. Boo! I also noticed craptastical response from the home button -- as in, it didn't work all the time, and to change apps I was having to power the phone OFF to get back to the menu screen. I gave up. Bah! This went on for a few days. I was listening to podcasts and making calls from the headphones until I got around to giving up the phone for awhile -- and then last night I heard a DING! from the other room. Indeed, the phone had healed itself, and I'm not sure why or what I did. I had sync'd the phone several times in the interim without remedy. I have to figure this is a problem where the phone still thinks the headphones are plugged in when they're not. Some series of events I'm doing is causing this state where the phone is still trying to only send data through the headphones -- even when they're not plugged in.

I love my iPhone. I love it. Still, it's hardly been a trouble-free device. Once again - as I was trying to call Aunt Pat, yet again - it has stopped working through the earpiece on the phone. The headphone/mic work fine. The speaker works fine. I'm annoyed it's b0rked on me the exact same way yet again. Unclear what will happen when I go to the Apple Store to get it fixed, but I'll betcha that they take it away for fixing and try to get me to rent another phone for the duration. Bah.
