Hey, I found the camera! Oddly enough, it was stuck in with the sock yarn. I wonder if that's a subliminal message to myself to make more socks?
Behold! The completed Audrey!!

Some detail on the shaping:

A closeup on the neck lace... including a stray cat hair. Just ignore that.

And, so long as we're here, let's look into the face of the contributor of that stray hair:

She has some sort of gyroscope problem where she spends a lot of her time upside-down. This is Leda's natural state.
I cast on for the second half of the Molly sweater last night. I really don't enjoy working with that Lopi. It's so easy to split with the D'Needles.

I too ran across your blog via Yahoo's non-standard hair color thingy...But I stuck it in my favorites folder because you and I both (drum roll please...) knit! You are quite cool, I like your site, and your sweater is realy nice. Cute cat too. Mine's a siamese.
Keep knitting, and keep those fingers away from the stove.
*hugs*

Tired ankles. I've had a Bosu gathering dust in the closet for about a year. One of those -- "Sure! I'll definitely use that" kind of purchases. I used it twice, and then the VCR ate the video. No more Bosu workouts. Given my new copious free time (kind of) and my resolution to work out every day while Stevie is gone (which I've already blown, BTW. I skipped Thursday.), I decided to get a couple of new Bosu videos and see how they go.
Oh. My. God. I know my ankles are weak, but to have them be part of me that is so sore I can't quite finish the video? Crazy. OTOH, I have been doing exercises to strengthen them on and off (mostly off, I admit) for years. I can roll my ankles very easily. If doing these workouts on the Bosu helps my ankles and my back - the two most prone-to-injury areas I have - then I have to think that it's a winner. Even if it's a winner that is just now showing its stuff after gathering dust.
As for resolutions -- the Audrey sweater is finished. I'll post a pic if I can find the camera... Damn tiny camera... where is it?... I have cooked my own meals for every meal (except last night, when I picked up at Chef's. No MSG headache for me, Karrie, but I did get way too much food as usual.). I gave myself a two-meals-out a week limit for the duration, so week one is a success on that front.

Is it just Stevie's absence that makes me compelled to burn myself? No, I'm not cutting... just clumsy. Two oven-related accidents in three days now. Maybe I should stick to the microwave.

Audrey is really really REALLY almost done. Really. I have finished the lace and now have it pinned onto the body of the sweater. An evening (or two) in front of the TV and it should be all finished. Of course, without the boy here to take care of me in the manner to which I have become accustomed, I'm having to work my ass off to keep everything going here at home. I might have a bit of time tomorrow night, then Tuesday (Cheryl's farewell Knitting Night @ the Mel-O-Dee) and Wednesday (movie night at Jamie's -- knitting, but almost definitely no seaming) are booked. Thursday looks good for working on the sweater thus far. If I can get it all seamed up and finished this week, I'll ask Danielle to model it for me. Even though it will probably be a tad bigger on her than it will be on MoMo (the sister is a bit more buxom than the coworker), it will give me an idea of how it fits the slender and petite. Pic if I get Danielle to model.

I was down in the basement yesterday, looking for my old "high school memory book". You know, those things that filled up with quotes and pictures and such during your senior year. You don't? Well, so I tried to be all high-schooly at least ONCE before I left. At any rate, I was specifically looking for a picture of senior homecoming.

Yeah, that's us with a piece of scotch tape across our heads. The guy on the right of me is Iggy. The guy on the left of me is Jeffrey. Here's another (slightly crappy scan) picture of Jeffrey:

We dated our senior year. We weren't ever really serious, but I was (and still am, I suppose) fond of him. Funny that, since I've discovered in a roundabout way that he's moved to SF and is now running a tranny makeover service. That was Jeffrey then, this is Jeffrey now:

Picture stolen from the website. If she asks, I'll take it down, but I don't think she'll mind. Good for her, is what I say! Jeffrey always did look better in my lipstick than I did.
So why am I even posting about this? Funny that -- it has nothing to do with ex's or lipstick, but with something I found on one of the "about me" pages that's supposed to make you feel all nostalgic these 15 years later.

Huh... it seems I've actually accomplished something I wanted to do in HS. Actually, I've accomplished a lot of things I wanted to back then, many of which I never thought were even remotely possible. So, no regrets.

Thank you, Anonymous Commentor. If not for you, I would never have known that Yahoo cites me as a source on what happens when you have non-standard hair colors and you visit the DMV. Oh, yeah. That makes me feel really great about the quality of answers you can get on Teh Intarwebs.

Gone gone gone. My boy is gone. I've been ranging between crying hysterically and just working like nothing's wrong. We'll see how I do after this weekend. My plan: live the glamorous life of a workaholic during these six weeks. Oh, and figure out if there's any way to get him home for a weekend. We won't know much about his schedule until he does it for a few weeks, though.
I'm working from home this afternoon, because while I'm technically on vacation today, I have a lot to do and it gives me something to think about. Also, I can't very well go into the office when I'm crying at the drop of a hat. OMG -- a hat? Wwwaaaahhhh!
I'm almost done with the Audrey sweater. It's all assembled, and just waiting for the lace at the top. I'm not sure what I might work on next. I still have the Molly sweater, and I'd like to get that done by this winter. I have enough Calmer for another Audrey, and enough Peruvian Highland Wool to make another Ribby Cardi. I admit, I could use another cardigan. That might be a winner. Only not the all-ribby version this time. We'll see.

Fools are cool. First, I will probably not go to knitting tonight, even though I want to show off the crochet assembly I did on the Audrey sweater. Next week, I'll definitely be there. Stephen leaves for Clarion West on Friday, and I'm basically hogging all the time with him that I can.
Second, I shall tell you why Fools are cool. I spend time on The Motley Fool message boards, and I have for years and years. Today, I posted about Stephen's impending departure for CW and how in a very roundabout way, it's all their fault. I first heard about NaNoWriMo at TMF, and that has led to Stephen actively pursuing his writing full-time. After the posting and some wonderful "huzzahs" from the group, one of my Favorite Fools, a literary agent, offered to read some of his work when he's ready. It's like I said: Fools are cool.

On a very old blog entry you made in 2003 about going to the dmv (link below) you mentioned that they wouldn't allow magenta as a hair color on your liscense. Turns out Ask Yahoo found your page and used it in one of their answers: http://ask.yahoo.com/ask/20050614.html

No wonder MoMo has so many cases on her desk.
According to RealtyTrac Inc. the Dallas-Fort Worth area has the dubious distinction of leading the nation in foreclosures with one foreclosure for every 319 households. This is more than 5.5 times the national average.

Hmm... could this be the beginning of housing prices going down? A downturn in DFW that might be in full swing, say, a year from now? Oh, don't mind me... Just thinking out loud...
