It's amazing what people can patent. Like "Lap dance liners".

My aunt called. I have to go to Houston. This is not good.

It seems that Chuck and JR's shared fatal weakness may have an end in sight... This article lightly discusses a potential future for allergy therapy - particularly for those allergic to cats.

I've decided to start on something a bit larger than socks. This is a present for someone... Someone who probably NEVER reads this, so what the hell. I've started an Audrey:

The part of this that impresses me is how even my 2x2 ribbing is. I guess it's that Ribby Cardi experience? Calmer is also much more forgiving on those edges, IMO, than the Highland Wool. It makes the lines less wiggly -- in this case, I really can't see any wiggle at all, and that is some major progress for me. I've also gotten much better at doing M1's without leaving holes. In general, this is a simple, calming knit for me so far. We'll see how I do when I get to that neckline.

I'm cheating and posting on Sunday for Saturday. But to keep with my minimum-blog-a-day requirements, I will only blog about yesterday. Now known as Squish-Day.

I went for my annual mammogram yesterday morning. They had to squish the suspicious-last-year boob three times before they got a good shot... and to me (she showed me the films) it does look a little odd in the spot they super-squished last year. However, that's to be expected. That's why they super-squished me there last year in the first place. The trick comes if they see any changes... and they'll almost definitely call me in there in a few weeks to get the super-squish and a better shot of that area to be extra-sure there aren't any changes there. I told the nice squish-technician lady that I wouldn't freak out until they tell me they want a biopsy... but I kinda lied. I feel all weird and anticipate-y right now. But maybe that's just the tea. At any rate, it's almost definitely nothing. And even if they call me back to super-squish, it's STILL almost definitely nothing. But the second the word "biopsy" comes up... well then I get to have the full-fledged freakout. Intarweb, you have been warned.

I just saw a car license plate frame that said:
No cash... It's prayed for.
WTF?

And in the interest of documentation:

Big Red:
She really doesn't have that wonky shoulder. I just suck at staging the pix. That's the SnB Big Sack Sweater in Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Chunky. Yummy.

Little socks:
Made from the rest of a ball of Fixation I had from some socks of my own. They're really really teeny.

Almost done with these booties for CJ II:
They're about 4" long and one seam away from being complete. The usual garter stitch bootie pattern I've been doing for over a year now.

Now, back to work!

That's inspiring. Perhaps I should attempt the same. How many days in a row can I blog without ever resorting to the crappy "I have nothing to say" post? Interesting challenge, since my knitting AND blogging have both been sucking hind teat to work this past month.

Stating the obvious:
  • I heart Deadwood.
  • Carnivale is weirder to watch when you realize that Clancy Brown is also Mr. Krabs from SpongeBob. More Krabby Patties, Iris?
  • I finished tiny green socks for C&C's new CJ... only to wait to long to send 'em. No way they'll fit her now. I guess I'll hold onto them for Michelle from Barberella's baby girl.
  • Big Red is comfy. And as of yet unphotographed. Feh.

And, on a very sad note: R.I.P. Iain Chase Akira Moore. I'm sorry I never had a chance to meet you. My sincerest condolences to your parents.

5:30 PM. 70 degrees. Steaks on the grill. Reasonably successful day at work. Everything -- the callas, the birds of paradise, the baby's breath, those camelia-looking things, EVERYTHING -- in bloom... Insert deep, contented, blissful sigh here.

I'm so glad to hear that, chica. Good for you! Wish I were there with you.

Big Red is complete. As are the tiny socks for the newest CJ. Pix tomorrow... probably.

Typos in motion. I just went to The Food Whore's blog for a recipe, and made a bad typo on the way -- thefootwhore.com. Which doesn't exist, thank ${DEITY}. Eww.

Oh, Shelia! Seems she's killed another soupfin shark. I wonder if it was that showboat shark we saw on my birthday?

Five feet long now, and she's been in there for six months. I need to go see her again. Definitely.

How long have I been working on my Big Sack Sweater? I call her Big Red -- and she's almost done. Just some seaming under one of the arms left... and just in time for it to be too warm to wear something all cozy and bulky. Damn.

Given Molly's love affair with Depressories, I think she might just like these as well. Also, I've probably mentioned before that despair.com is from Richardson. Coincidence? I think not.

Why is it that every time AA has a cheap flight to DFW for the weekend, it's right in the middle of some huge-ass project I absolutely cannot drop? Really, it's not fair. I want to see my nephew!
