I just noticed something. Our shredder is by a company named "GBC". It's a "GBC Shredmaster". When I first read the name, I parsed it as "Green Bean Casserole Shredmaster". Sounds like Jake when he was little, and LOVED his GBC!

Comments:
mmmm, GBC. Who used to make that you or Melissa? I need to know who to bug.

Totally, aside, it's rainy here today. (Winter in Tx). And even though I don't smoke anymore, it's still seemed like the perfect afternoon to sit on the porch talk, smoke cigarettes, & down some Shiner. sigh.

I don't like Condi Rice. But I feel for the woman right now. I mean, who wants to have every detail of what's going on in her uterus covered by CNN?

Comments:
I agree, but in all fairness, it's not as if they (CNN/ Giant Ants) don't also cover what's going on in the prostate (or colon) of men in high offices (i.e. President, etc).

Working on a Sunday... But it's not so bad. In non-work news, I have the first four repeats on Shedir done now, and it is way gorgeous. Yummy. Me heart Calmer. It just feels buttery and fabulous. Maybe I need to make something else out of this lovely red. Not working on much else until I get that finished, but hopefully that will be this week. I have one baby sock finished, and I can whip out the other one pretty quick. I guess I'll take that to Tuesday night knitting. And I need to figure out what projects will be coming with me when I travel next week. Long layovers = extreme boredom without some projects to complete!

I have not written much at all lately, and especially not about knitting. So here's my story. One: I have made some very cute socks. I now have three pairs of socks I have made for myself. Two: I am making that schmancy cabled chemo-cap from the Knitty Fall Surprise. It's hard. But Doreen is absolutely worth it. Hopefully, I can get it finished by Thanksgiving in a few weeks... but again, it's pretty hard. We'll see.
That's about it on the knitting front.

Nothing to do with anything, except a post I read where someone framed Buddhism as a religion. Again. It reminded me of the time I was having lunch with William oh so many years ago. We were at Lover's Egg Roll - yum! - and I ordered the Buddha's Delight. I just felt like something light - vegetables in a light sauce with brown rice. At one point during lunch, I giggled a bit at the irony of it. Buddha's Delight is a vegetarian dish, while (in some texts) the Buddha died of eating bad pork. William asked what my private joke was, and when I told him he got all excited.

What do you mean he died?

Well, I mean he died. He got food poisoning and died.

So, he's not immortal then. How can he be a god if he's not immortal?

Uh... he's not exactly a god. I mean, there generally aren't deities in Buddhism, though there are some cultural exceptions to that. But Buddha was a man, not a god.

How can you worship someone that isn't a god?

I don't worship him. I read his words and learn from the lessons he taught. That's not the same thing.

But there are all those statues of him that they worship.

William, there are statues of Abraham Lincoln, too. That doesn't mean people are worshipping him.

Ah, the "good" old days...

I just don't understand it. Why is it that when I have a horrible deadline barrelling down the track, I still can't get any work done on it? I mean, look at me right now. Talk about avoidance. I would rather blog about how I'm not working when I really need to cover some serious ground then actually do the work. WTF? I'm hopeless!

It's a long load, but DAMN it is SO worth it. Go here. But not when my nephew's around. Or MoMo will kill ya.

It's not just blogging I'm skipping out on right now. It's Tuesday night knitting, catching up with email and friends, basically just about everything. And I don't see it getting much easier until after Thanksgiving. Just too damn busy at work and a wee bit sick to boot, which is honing in on that working time I'm supposed to be busily utilizing.
Hopefully, I'll get to go knit on Tuesday night. I have a red hat to make for Doreen before I see her at Thanksgiving.

Whoa! Carlos got 49% of the vote? Not bad! Not a winner... but not bad for his first race!
