DAMMIT! I'm going to miss the next cheap fare to DFW because it would mean flying out the same week as my wrist surgery. Guess I'll have to catch the next one...

I think I'm going to cry. My favorite blog is gone. Not just offline, but the blog itself no longer exists on blogspot. The horror!

Okay, if you remove the error from your link & just go to tjsplace.blogspot.com it works fine. Maybe it was just a one off...

Stevie is way sick. Way. When I talked to him an hour ago he said, "I think my fever just broke." Bad sick. I'm going to pick him up at the airport tomorrow afternoon and get him right home into bed.

Comments:
Let us know if there's anything we can do for Stevie before he leaves. I figure he's pretty well covered since he's with his mom, but...

Also I got some nifty pics of MoMo's pool this evening. Hoo-ray! Next cheap flight to DFW, I am so there.

Here at home, listening to old Smashing Pumpkins (I guess it's all old nowadays) and working on bills.
I miss Stevie.
I hope he is having a great time, but I still miss him. I went out to dinner with friends tonight, which certainly helps, but of course it's not going to be the same crawling into bed without my boy.
But at least I finally got to catch up on some financial stuff!

If you did not know that I completely rule before, listen up! I just managed to log into a Windows 2003 server in Germany... which means it's all in German... and figured out how to add new users / groups. Yes, even though I speak neither windows nor German! Oooh, I am all that!

Comments:
You rule. No doubt about it. =)

Our sexual harassment policy includes "requests for sexual favors" as an example of sexual harassment (as I'm sure everyone else's does as well). My question is this: what if the party receiving the request is no good in bed? Does that make it a sexual disservice?

When Stevie came to pick me up from work, I accidentally ran into an art piece that Alex had brought up to the office, maybe for Scott. She's a skilled metal worker (a fabricator? an artist? I'm not sure of the correct terminology...) At any rate, I bumped into it as we were walking out the door, then picked it up and straightened it out before walking out. We're halfway down the hall, and Alex comes running out. She called down the hall after us: "Hey, I just created that and it still has [something-I-can't-remember] oxide all over it. So don't go home and have crazy marital sex unless you wash your hands first."
Damn, that girl cracks me up. I especially like the inclusion of the word "marital".

Comments:
Which of course leads me to wonder how many other kinds of sex would be okay with out washing your hands? And just for the record, it is only sexual activity you need to cautious of, or would less intimate activties be dangerous as well?

I spent a little time looking at Dennis and Anna's home page. Mostly, it's about their kids, which is of course to be expected. Their oldest looks just like Dennis... some strong genetics there. I know that Anna basically wanted to kill me at the reunion a few years ago, and I'm sad about that, but at the same time I am also sincerely happy that they're well. I hope they are. I hope they're blissfully happy together with their three kids and the new(ish)-to-them-house. He had better take good care of her, because Anna was always an amazing woman and I have no reason to believe that's changed.

I just saw a post-it note in a parked car. It read: "Do not get angry while driving." It was stuck just below the radio.

Comments:
LOL, that should be made in to a sign & posted every 50 feet on 635 or any Dallas Highway. Traffic is worse in the Bay Area, but I think Dallasites have a knack for road rage.

Lately, I feel depressed. It's true. I went through a pretty traumatic realization period over the past few months, and now I just feel sad. I think when you put so much of your identity into being a freak, and that's taken away, it's hard. But when you put essentially the rest of your identity into your work, and it's not what you expected or wanted or what you thought you wanted... well, that's hard, too.
Coworkers have commented to me lately that it just seems like my spark has gone out. I'm quieter, and somewhat withdrawn. I don't get involved in discussions like I used to. I don't correct other people even when I know they're wrong. What's up with that? I just feel like my work is not as fulfilling as it once was... I don't mean "it used to be better when I first got here" so much as "I was happier years and years ago." Some of that is economic, some of it the change of the times. And some of it is just that I felt so much optimism then. I felt like somehow I could make a difference. Lately, I just don't feel that anymore. I feel like the things I do don't matter at all. And the worst of it is, I it doesn't even piss me off that I feel that way. I don't feel indignant or angry or anything about it. It just is, somehow.
That worries me, and I'm not afraid to admit it.
