Ah, yes... the friday five.
  1. What was your first Halloween costume? I don't remember. But I do remember one year that my mom said that she wasn't interested in taking us out. No costumes, no nothing. So I got a trash bag and one of her eyeliners, put the trashbag over my head, and drew wrinkly lines down my face. I told people I was a California raisin when I went out trick-or-treating by myself. Not a good memory, actually.
  2. What was your best costume and why? Uhh... Let's see... I was Chun-Li one year, and I looked hot.
  3. Did you ever play a trick on someone who didn't give you a treat? Naah. I'm too woosy for that.
  4. Do you have any Halloween traditions? (ie: Family pumpkin carving, special dinner before trick or treating, etc.) Uhh... No. Besides turning off the lights and hiding!
  5. Share your favorite scary story...real or legend! Oooh... I heard a good one just yesterday! A woman who works here was telling me that in the house where she has lived for the past seven years (a rental), there are ghosts. Now, I generally don't go for that, but it's a good story nonetheless. When they first moved in (the first night), the two roommates both heard someone unpacking boxes and putting away things in the drawers all night. They each assumed that the other was the culprit, until they woke up the next morning and everything was just as they left it. "Did you stay up all night putting things away?" "I thought you were the one making all that noise!" That's just one of them. The other ghost in the house is louder. Every morning at 3:15, they hear a screaming/crying noise coming up through the central heating, from the basement area. They decided to have a "purification ceremony" (this is Berkeley, after all), and the screams went away. Except that night-before-last, the woman's newish-BF was staying the night and heard the screams and cries when he went to the bathroom. He woke her up -- "There's something wrong with the woman who lives downstairs! She's being attacked!" My coworker looked at the time, and said, "Oh, no, honey. That's just a ghost. Go back to sleep." Scared the hell out of him. <grin>
And that's it for the friday five.
